Filiz Calf Starter Feed
Calf Feed
Net: 50kg
Newborn calves have undeveloped rumens, and their digestive systems function similarly to those of humans.
At this stage, only highly digestible, high-quality, and palatable ingredients should be used in calf feeding.
The goal in calf nutrition is to increase live weight and feed intake and achieve weaning within 6–8 weeks at most.
Calves must be given 2–3 liters of colostrum within the first 30 minutes after birth, followed by 1–2 liters within the next 4–6 hours.
During the first 24 hours, calves should consume 5–6 liters of colostrum.
On the second and third days, calves should be fed a total of 4–4.5 liters of colostrum in 3 equal meals per day.
The recommended milk feeding temperature is 38.5–39 °C.
Daily intake of Filiz Calf Starter Feed should be monitored, and by 5 weeks of age, high-quality dry forage such as alfalfa hay should be introduced.
Forages such as straw or corn silage should not be given until calves are over 4 months old.
Calves must always have access to clean, lukewarm water. Water is crucial to stimulate feed intake and promote rumen development.
Usage
It is a feed used for calves up to the end of the first 2 months after birth.
Calves fed exclusively with colostrum for the first 3 days should be offered Filiz Calf Starter Feed from the 4th day onward, along with clean and lukewarm water.
Filiz Calf Starter Feed should always be kept fresh, clean, and freely accessible 24 hours a day.
When calves are observed consuming 1,250–1,500 g of calf starter feed for 3 consecutive days, a gradual weaning program can be applied.
For establishing proper feeding and weaning programs for newborn calves, please consult our regional sales managers for technical support.
