Usage
Menekşe Ewe Dairy Feed is specially formulated for use during the lactation period. Ewes grazing on pasture should be gradually adapted to Menekşe Ewe Dairy Feed.
At the beginning of the pasture season, the amount should be increased gradually during grazing hours.
During periods of heavy dew or frost, ewes should be given a small amount of hay or straw in the barn before being taken out to pasture.
Immediately after lambing, feed should be given as follows:
Single lamb births → approx. 700 g/day
Twin lamb births → approx. 1 kg/day
The remaining nutritional requirements should be met with quality meadow hay, or by offering a 50:50 mixture of alfalfa hay and meadow hay.
In the first 4 weeks after lambing, ewes produce 40–50% of the total milk for that lactation period. As milk yield decreases, the amount of Menekşe Ewe Dairy Feed should also be reduced, and can be gradually lowered to 100–200 g/day.
During the first 8 weeks after lambing, poor-quality roughages such as straw should not be fed.
If corn silage is to be included, it should be gradually increased after lambing up to 1.5–2 kg/day. Along with corn silage, alfalfa or meadow hay should be increased up to 0.5–0.75 kg/day.
